Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 2 cups whole buttermilk, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl until no lumps remain.
- Fold in buttermilk and 3 tablespoons of the melted butter until just combined and dry ingredients are moistened.
- Pour remaining melted butter into an 8-inch square baking dish, tilting to coat bottom and sides.
- Transfer dough to the baking dish and gently spread into an even layer.
- Bake for 23–25 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Let stand about 5 minutes so the butter absorbs. Cut into 8 portions and serve warm.
